TAG is a state and local tax consulting firm specializing in Sales/Use Tax, Personal Property Tax and Local tax issues. Our primary objective is to provide the highest level of service to our clients in the area of tax minimization. Laurie T. Albano

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Laurie has over twenty years of state and local tax experience, specializing in the fields of sales, use and property tax. Laurie provides clients with sales and use tax services including audit defense, compliance, exemption certificate projects, overpayment reviews, process reviews, research, and voluntary disclosures. She also provides clients with property tax compliance and review services. Prior to joining The Albano Group in 2011, Laurie was the Tax Supervisor for a large corporation where she managed the U.S. and Canadian indirect tax functions. She previously held the position of Senior Consultant at a national consulting firm. Laurie earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and has completed graduate coursework at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) and is the current chair of the Boston Area IPT Local Lunch Group.


James M. Barton, III

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Jim has over forty years of experience in the Real Estate industry and is instrumental in developing Tax Minimization Programs for a large, diversified group of national clients. Jim’s previous tax experience includes one of the “Big Four” accounting firms as a Senior Tax Consultant. Jim is the Director of The Albano Group’s Personal Property Tax Compliance practice, where he oversees Compliance, Fixed Asset Review, Asset Classifications, Identification of Ghost Assets, Double Assessments, Exemption Possibilities, Audits, the Appeal Process, Value Negotiations with Assessors, Value Hearings and the Tax Bill Payment process. He also oversees the portfolio management of over 3,500 real properties for several national clients. Jim is a graduate of Boston College, with a B.S. in Business Management, and is a member of the IPT (Institute for Professionals in Taxation) and has successfully completed the IPT’s Intermediate and Advanced Personal Property courses. He is also a Certified Real Estate Appraiser.


Stephen A. Albano Jr.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGY

Steve develops Tax Minimization Programs specializing in the fields of Personal Property Tax, Real Estate Tax, and Sales/Use Tax. He represents a diverse portfolio of national clients of various sizes and industries. Prior experience includes nearly ten years at a major multinational technology company, where he held numerous roles in Account Management, Business Development, and Sales Management. Steve is a graduate of Babson College, with a B.S. in Business Management, and is a member of the IPT (Institute for Professionals in Taxation).


Stephen B. Daunis

DIRECTOR, TAX SERVICES

Steve has more than forty years of tax experience, primarily in the areas of manufacturing, retail, software and software services. Prior to joining TAG, Steve worked for a national tax consulting company, dealing with federal and state tax issues. Previously, he was a private consultant, providing federal, state & international tax and other non-tax services for a number of companies, both in the US and Europe. He served as Executive Vice President for a provider of corporate income tax software, where he was primarily responsible for the integrity of the federal and state tax logic and the user interface. He was also Director of Tax and Treasury for a fortune 500 company, where he was responsible for all federal and state tax compliance, sales and use, and property tax matters. Steve holds an undergraduate degree from Villanova University, a Law Degree from Suffolk University, and a Masters in Taxation from Boston University. He is a Member of the Bar in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.


Anthony Franco

DIRECTOR, PROPERTY TAX SERVICES

Tony has over 20 years of real and personal property tax experience in a wide range of industries, including newspaper, food manufacturing, semi-conductor, automotive, healthcare products, complex property and chemical manufacturing, mineral and farming, warehousing, hotel and multi-family. In his career he has generated over $5 Billion in assessment reductions, resulting in nearly $100 million in tax savings. Tony is an expert on issues of functional and obsolescence; age/life analysis; equitable assessment analysis; depreciation studies; and exemptions. Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Connecticut and is a designated Property Tax Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He has also completed numerous advanced courses in Real Estate and Machinery and Equipment appraisal from the Appraisal Institute and American Society of Appraisers.


Mark Ledoux

DIRECTOR, SALES & USE TAX SERVICES

Mark has over thirty years of experience in the sales and use tax area. Prior to joining the Albano Group, he has held Director and Sr. Management positions at National Consulting firms as well as in Industry. Mark specializes in nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, taxability and overpayment reviews, audit management and defense as well as appeals. Mark has been involved in numerous research projects on behalf of his clients in addition to providing letter ruling requests, training, and sales and use tax registrations. Over the tenure of his career, Mark’s clients, who span a variety of industries, have benefitted from his extensive experience in the form of significant tax savings. Mark has been the guest speaker at numerous tax events throughout the United States and Canada. Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Assumption College, Master of Business Administration from Anna Maria College, and a Master of Science in Taxation from Northeastern University.


Robert Vivenzio

DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Robert has over 30 years of State and Local taxation experience in areas of ad valorem; real estate, personal property taxes and sales, use and other state and local excise taxes. Prior to joining The Albano Group, Robert was the founder and President of a Real Estate Consulting firm where he was responsible for running all aspects of the business and was accountable with the overall profitability, revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Robert entered the state and local tax consulting field in 1986. Operating out of the New England Region, he previously worked for some of the largest national Real Estate Tax Consulting firms. Robert is the Director of Business Development where he is responsible for identifying opportunities, developing, and implementing marketing plans, establishing, and maintaining executive relationships and positioning the value of the firm to customers and partners. A graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, Robert attended the Sandler Sales Institute President’s Club and has completed various appraisal and property management courses through the Boston University School of Management Real Estate Studies.


Erin K. Bell

SENIOR MANAGER, TAX SERVICES

Erin has 15 years of experience working in sales and use tax and VAT. Since joining TAG in 2013, she has assisted clients across multiple sectors with compliance, audit defenses, nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, exemption certificate management, and other advisory projects. Prior to joining The Albano Group, Erin worked with a cost consultancy firm based out of the United Kingdom. Her work supported a global client base with their VAT compliance and VAT recovery needs in the EU and beyond. Erin holds an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College, and has completed coursework with the Chartered Institute of Taxation (UK).


Eric Inglese

MANAGER, TAX & TECHNOLOGY

Eric has nearly ten years of tax experience, specializing in Personal Property Tax. Eric provides clients with expert property tax compliance services nationally, and in a wide range of industries. Eric leverages Alteryx and other technical tools to perform enhanced data manipulation and analysis. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of New Hampshire and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He has successfully completed IPT’s Property Tax Schools and has formal training in PTMS software.


Michael D. Leavitt

MANAGER, TAX SERVICES

Mike has eighteen years of tax experience, primarily in state and local tax compliance and review. Prior to joining TAG, Mike worked for a national tax consulting firm in the state and local tax area where he focused on compliance and tax reviews for large scale Fortune 1000 corporations. Previously, he worked for a large energy wholesaler on state and local returns as well as motor fuels excise tax returns. Mike holds an undergraduate degree from Southern New Hampshire University and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He has successfully completed IPT’s Property Tax School and Personal Property Tax School as well as COST’s Advanced Income Tax School. In addition, Mike has formal training with both Corptax and PTMS software.


Beau Theriault

MANAGER, TAX SERVICES

Beau has nearly ten years of tax experience. Beau provides clients with personal property tax compliance and review services, as well as sales and use tax services. Beau holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He has successfully completed IPT’s Property Tax Schools and has formal training in PTMS software.
