The Albano Group takes great pride in working with our clients to achieve tax solutions that meet some of today's challenges.

TAG is a state and local tax consulting firm specializing in Sales/Use Tax, Personal Property Tax and Local tax issues. Our primary objective is to provide the highest level of service to our clients in the area of tax minimization. Mr. Michael Albano was a co-founder of The Albano Group. He had over forty years of state and local tax experience including positions in the corporate and government sectors, as well as tax consulting. In 2009, he started The Albano Group with his brother, Mr. Steve Albano, and Mr. Jim Barton.

Mr. Albano was an active and well-respected member of the New England tax community for many years and acted as a mentor to many current and former tax professionals. He will be deeply missed.

The Albano Group will continue to carry on Mr. Albano’s legacy by providing specialized tax services tailored to its clients’ needs.

Mr. Barton has over thirty years of experience in the Real Estate industry, and is instrumental in developing Tax Minimization Programs for a large diversified group of national clients. Mr. Barton's previous tax experience includes one of the "Big Four" accounting firms as a Senior Tax Consultant. Mr. Barton is the Director of The Albano Group's Personal Property Tax Compliance practice, where he oversees Compliance, Fixed Asset Review, Asset Classifications, Identification of Ghost Assets, Double Assessments, Exemption Possibilities, Audits, the Appeal Process, Value Negotiations with Assessors, Value Hearings and the Tax Bill Payment process. He also oversees the portfolio management of over 3000 real properties for several national clients. Mr. Barton is a graduate of Boston College, with a B.S. in Business Management, and is a member of the IPT (Institute for Professionals in Taxation), and has successfully completed the IPT's Intermediate and Advanced Personal Property courses. He is also a Certified Real Estate Appraiser
Mr. Daunis has more than thirty years of tax experience, primarily in the areas of manufacturing, retail, software and software services. Prior to joining TAG, Mr. Daunis worked for a national tax consulting company, dealing with federal and state tax issues. Previously, he was a private consultant, providing federal, state & international tax and other non-tax services for a number of companies, both in the US and Europe. He served as Executive Vice President for a provider of corporate income tax software, where he was primarily responsible for the integrity of the federal and state tax logic and the user interface. He was also Director of Tax and Treasury for a fortune 500 company, where he was responsible for all federal and state tax compliance, sales and use, and property tax matters. Mr. Daunis holds an undergraduate degree from Villanova University, a Law Degree from Suffolk University, and a Masters in Taxation from Boston University. He is a member of the Bar in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Ms. Albano has over ten years of state and local tax experience, specializing in the fields of sales, use and property tax. Ms. Albano provides clients with sales and use tax services including audit defense, compliance, exemption certificate projects, overpayment reviews, process reviews, research, and voluntary disclosures. She also provides clients with property tax compliance and review services. Prior to joining The Albano Group in 2011, Ms. Albano was the Tax Supervisor for a large corporation where she managed the U.S. and Canadian indirect tax functions. She previously held the position of Senior Consultant at a national consulting firm. Ms. Albano earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and has completed graduate coursework at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT).
Mr. Franco has over fourteen years of real estate and personal property tax experience. Previously, Mr. Franco worked for a national consulting company for over 10 years, providing his clients a wide range of real and personal property services in numerous states in a wide range of industries, including High Technology, special purpose industrial, pharmaceutical, food processing, mineral and farming. Since 2005, he has provided his clients with over $1 Billion in reductions of assessments, resulting in over $20 million in tax savings. Mr. Franco holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Connecticut and is a designated Property Tax Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He has also completed numerous advanced courses in Real Estate and machinery and equipment appraisal from the Appraisal Institute and the American Society of Appraisers and the Appraisal Institute.
Mr. Leavitt has ten years of tax experience, primarily in state and local tax compliance and review. Prior to joining TAG, Mr. Leavitt worked for a national tax consulting firm in the state and local tax area where he focused on compliance and tax reviews for large scale Fortune 1000 corporations. Previously, he worked for a large energy wholesaler on state and local returns as well as motor fuels excise tax returns. Mr. Leavitt holds an undergraduate degree from Southern New Hampshire University and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He has successfully completed IPT's Intermediate Personal Property Tax School as well as COST's Advanced Income Tax School. In addition, Mr. Leavitt has formal training with both Corptax and PTMS software.
Ms. Bell joined The Albano Group as a Sr. Analyst working in the area of transaction and tax recovery services associated with sales and use tax and VAT tax. Since joining the Albano Group, Ms. Bell has used her experience to provide clients with transaction reviews and recovery services. Ms. Bell has seven years of international indirect tax (VAT) experience, working with an international consulting firm both in the US and in the UK. During her time in VAT, Ms. Bell was primarily focused in providing compliance, advisory, and VAT recovery services. She represented a worldwide client base covering multiple sectors, including the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, automotive, and IT industries. Ms. Bell holds an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College, has completed coursework with the Institute of Indirect Taxation, and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
Mr. Vivenzio has over 30 years of State and Local taxation experience in areas of ad valorem; real estate, personal property taxes and sales, use and other state and local excise taxes. Prior to joining The Albano Group, Mr. Vivenzio was the founder and President of Extax Consulting Group LLC where he was responsible for running all aspects of the business and was accountable with the overall profitability, revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Mr. Vivenzio is a founding member of the US Tax Consulting Group, LLC, a national full service state and local tax consulting firm. Mr. Vivenzio entered the state and local tax consulting field in 1986. Operating out of the New England Region, he previously worked for some of the largest national Real Estate Tax Consulting firms. Mr. Vivenzio is the Director of Business Development where he is responsible for identifying opportunities, developing and implementing marketing plans, establishing and maintaining executive relationships and positioning the value of the firm to customers and partners. A graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, Mr. Vivenzio attended the Sandler Sales Institute President’s Club and has completed various appraisal and property management courses through the Boston University School of Management Real Estate Studies. He is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT).
